Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving (in the U.S) where retailers offer deals for customers. It is traditionally known as the beginning of Christmas shopping. Also, a time where we buy more things that we don't really need each day. We do this, because, we use Black Friday as an opportunity to buy items we would of never buy and do not need for a lower price. We already have what we need, but it's the feeling of accomplishment when we buy things on sale and also a bragging right. We, as a culture, feel compelled to buy things we don't need for survival. Is it the marketing techniques used? Or is it that everyone has it? Or are we just impulsive?
Commercials and advertisements make us feel like we need things, even when we don't. But we are drawn to it. Brands can influence us, advertisements make us recognize their brand through a simple ad. And we buy products based on design. If it looks cool, we buy it. Culture and media encourages us to buy things constantly. Culture influences us by, for example if everyone has this product, we are influenced to buy it just because everyone else has it. We have to be in the know with new products. We are motivated to buy products after we see an ad that affects our emotions. The only con is that we don't see this as a concern when it really is. We just keep buying things, without concern.

Hi Rachel! Great points! Black Friday has been indeed one of the craziest shopping days of the year. Like what you said, it is also the time wherein we buy the things that we don't really need. Maybe because of the huge deals that we get or maybe we really just want to join the trend. Either way, like what you said, we are just overwhelmed with everything that we see during this day of sale. I also agree when you said that commercials and advertisements make us feel that we need to buy things that we don't even need. I personally go through that phase wherein I wanna buy everything I see in flyers which are really unnecessary. We are easily influenced by our culture and I think that people, especially us teens, should reflect on ourselves first before buying things that we don't really need because we don't only benefit ourselves but the companies that sell the products that we purchase. Nice blog btw!
